A candle holder should be more than a candle holder. This one is.

The rose is hand-forged — each petal individually shaped at the forge, layered outward from a tight central bud. The petals open at different angles, catching light differently depending on where you stand. No two are identical because no two are made by the same sequence of hammer strikes.

The candle cup sits in the centre of the bloom. When a candle is lit, the warm light glows through the outer petals, casting organic shadows on the surface behind it. It is a piece of functional art that changes with the light.

The Craft

This is one of the more technically demanding small pieces we make. Forming a convincing rose petal from flat iron stock — getting the right curve, the right taper, the right texture — requires skill and patience. The finish is oil-black with a natural patina that develops slightly with age and handling.
